چکیده

Objective: It was aimed to retrospectively evaluate the soft tissue calcifications (STCs) in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Material and Methods: CBCT images (Planmeca Romexis®, 3D Mid Planmeca Oy, Helsinki, Finland) of 1,566 patients (54.2% females; 45.8% males) were collected from database Department Dentomaxillofacial Radiology. The hyperdense masses examined. Patients with head neck trauma or a history surgery excluded. If present, classified according type, locations, distribution, age, gender using descriptive statistics chi-square tests. Results: Of patients, 390 (24.9 %) showed calcifications. mean age these 47.3±16.1. frequency STCs 48.7% males 51.3% females. Tonsilloliths (53.6 found be common, followed by ossified stylohyoid ligament (29.5%), pineal gland calcification (3.6%) sialolith (2.8%). No statistically significant differences recorded between genders (p>0.05). detected either bilaterally (51.1%) unilaterally (48.9%). groups: Tonsillolith seen mostly individuals older than 55-year-old (40.7%), whereas younger 35-year-old (36.5%). Conclusion: may often incidentally diagnosed on Clinicians should recognize characteristics STCs, particularly regarding early diagnoses certain systemic diseases.
